Scary Movies Nightmare On Elm Street

4. Nightmare on Elm Street

Memorable quote: “Whatever you do: Don’t. Fall. Asleep.”

Synopsis: A Nightmare on Elm Street is a 1984 American supernatural horror film written and direct by Wes Craven. Set in Springwood, Ohio, the plot revolves around several teenagers who are stalked and killed in their dreams (which becomes reality) by Freddy Krueger. The films ability to toy with the boundaries of dreams and reality led to critical praise and success. The movie is one of the founding fathers of the “slasher” film term. Krueger has become a household name and has caused many sleepless nights across the world.

3. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Memorable quote: “Hit ’er, grandpa, hit ’er.”

Synopsis: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ is an American slasher film that originated in in 1974. The movie was directed and produced by Tobe Hooper who co-wrote it with Kim Henkel. The film follows a group of friends who fall victim to a family of cannibals who are willing to do anything to get their hands on new flesh. While the movie is marketed as a true story to attract a wider audience the plot is fictional. With that being said the main character leatherface and minor plot details were inspired by real-life murderer Ed Gein. The sound of the body being placed on the meat hooks still gives me shivers.
