In light of the recent North Carolina vote against gay marriage, here’s a nice video to express the coherent arguments of the state senators who oppose the issue. Not.

    Senility – it’s a problem.

Just because someone doesn’t understand or agree with the reason, doesn’t mean there isn’t one.

    • Steve Hueners

Correct. But if they speak from a position of authority as a doctor and as a State Senator and they show this level of disregard for reason, this amount of ‘non-reasoning-ness’ they are, in fact, a shame and a disgrace. And an electorate that follows this sort of leader is both a shame and a disgrace and more – they are dangerous.

The problem isn’t that he can’t explain why he’s anti-gay marriage, it’s that his explanation is based on a statistic that he completely made-up.

  • Snolok

I can explain why he’s anti-gay…. It’s because he’s a bigot. He’s simply desperate to justify hi bigotry even it means lying.

Divorce is a pretty well established part of traditional marriage. History, learn it.

  • Joe

The host is kinda going down the wrong road, at the start. You don’t need to debunk the notion that gay men die 20 years earlier. You only need to point out that this stat doesn’t tell us anything about the *difference* in life-expectancy between *married* gay men and *unmarried* ones. For all we know, marriage might *increase* the life-expectancy of gay men (just like it does for straight men), since they have fewer partners, have a reason to take care of themselves, etc.

    • Sam Sara

Agreed, I was thinking the same thing.

  • Ebb

Wow – pretty crazy…. and he gets to have the word *Senator* attached to his name

Gay marriage doesn’t “harm” another marriage literally.  However, what it
does do is challenge it when its rules and regulations have already
been set forth in stone a thousand centuries before the United States’s
conception.  Also, what it does is bully the people who are Christian by
not asking but telling them to change its rules to fit a homosexual(s) needs
and agendas, which in turn is not a realistic compromise.  Never in history has there been one
    individual who
has changed a rule in the Quran, Buddhism, or Hinduism, etc. and I dare
    anyone
to try.  So, why is Christianity such an interesting target of choice?
Perhaps it doesn’t really know how to stand up for itself? Perhaps yes,
    perhaps no.  This
brings one to an interesting question:  Is the overall intent made by
homosexuals to have everyone simply “get along” and “love one another” or is it mere hostel
interference just to stick it to someone’s craw?

The issue is not if homosexuality harms marriage. It’s more about what
kind of church are you looking for?  If you came looking for gay
marriage in a Christian church, then, stamp yourself on the forehead
with the word “idiot” because you’re in the wrong department.  In other words, don’t
walk into an already established grocery store and start demanding
electronics. You go out and create your own store and sell whatever you
    want!  What a nit-wit issue!

Aside from all of that, is divorce harming marriage? Absolutely!  Will it be fixed. No!  Why? I don’t know!
