‘Cause that’s what ‘we’ like to do when we meet new people. Why is he not trying to shake their hand? Because they are not used to. It is what we used to do..
Dodge
Why do they punch themselves in the head after tasting the rice… thats kind of odd. I think I wanna start doing that at McDonalds.

I think it means “I like this”
Jake M
Hitting the head in this tribe is a symbol for good. He must like the rice and salt then.
Anonymous
lol good one.
a.
Amazing video…
just a correction: the tribe is from Papua New Guinea, in Oceania; not from the Amazon.
http://www.wems.biz Jerry Beingesser
I have never seen anything like this in my life and probably never will again.

Kindness transcends all barriers!!! I learned of this in my travels in Greece and West Africa, etc.

Quite possibly the most tragic thing I’ve ever viewed. All the western disease was just brought to this pure, isolated tribe.
http://astros.com BEn
Really? ALL western disease? What makes you think that these people are pure? Their life expectancy is probably in the 30s because of diseases like malaria and west nile and other highly infectious diseases that exist in the wild. This is seriously one of the most ignorant posts I’ve ever encountered.
Kingsley
I think he means our wasteful habits and such, as disease-filled as their life habits may be, they are probably doing minimal damage to the environment as compared to us, destroying everything we lay our hands on
J
lol, he clearly didn’t mean that at all. Way to make stuff up.
waal
I agree. it’s sad to see them be shown white devil magic. they were fine before. Why ruin it? on the other hand it has to the tribes most amazing experiences ever. or at least most life altering. Ben you sound ignorant to me…
http://- jeff
i like it how you wrote that comment from a computer. what a hypocrite.
Adam
His comment was actually made from a wood Abacus.

it’s THIs that is our disease. A need to be superior and dig at eachother. This is an amazing video, something we could all enjoy and share, but as usual someone has to poke at someone. I hope they don’t learn to be like us at all.
Anonymous
well said Anonymous! Well said indeed!
Schematican
And immediately, he turns them into pyromaniacs.
Anonymous
that is NOT an AMAZON tribe!
George
How did this tribe get all the electronic sounds for the song thats playing?
Blatant Racism
should have brought them some KFC
Boner Nipples
Haha he would have been viewed as a God
RS
What do the people in these tribes think when they see a plane overhead? They’ve had to see one before, right? Amazing video.
luyfkuf
That music is highly annoying.
luyfkuf
…His hair seems a little too well-cut to be the real deal.
xadus
The reason we extend our hand to shake someones hand…is because in the middle ages (when knights carried swords) it showed that you were holding no weapon and meant no harm
@luyfkuf
lol, of course only white people know how to cut they own hair. How euro-centric of you.
Nathan
The worst thing he could do was introduce rice and other simple starches and sugars to these people. When that happens to indigenous cultures, they invariable go from having healthy bodies (which you can see in this video) to developing all the symptoms and ailments of metabolic syndrome:heart disease, diabetes, alzheimers, etc. Such a shame, really. We need to eat like them, not the other way around.
waal
maybe a mix between the two. you can obviously tell where the children have gone malnourished with their protruding bellies. I bet the best thing that ever happened to them was that rice.
Wile
They should have used that club on the white man.
http://dnamaya.com Dave
these people are from New Guinea, this is not the Amazon fool!
robert
New Guinea for sure…not sure if it’s Papua New Guinea or Papua, Indonesia. Dress, adz and feathers could place them in the upper Sepik or across the border in Papua. I lived there for 18 yrs. Definitly this is NOT 1st contact with the “white man.” This was staged. No men in New Guinea would let their women and kids get close to white “spirits.”
Adam
Thanks Dr. Robert. Do you know every tribe in Papua or could you be wrong and it is possible that was the first time they saw a white man?
MrG
This is tipical US race profiling, Tribe + Jungle = Amazon. Who cares if they are aboriginal.
I´m surprised the hedaline does´nt read that a new Spanish Tribe had been found.
Adam
Anyone who is dissing modern “white man” is racist and stupid. It took modern people a long time to get to where we are today. Throw away your computers right now…
JL
Absolutely the most amazing Video I have seen!!!!!!
http://loulouville.blogspot.com/2011/06/this-is-incredible-footage-from.html Loulou Ville
SORRY GUYS BUT THIS SO-CALLED FIRST ENCOUNTER WAS STAGED!
Anthropologist Pierre Lemonnier who denounced this documentary as fraud in an article for the French Newspaper Liberation, studied the Papuans for over a decade and says that the “unknown tribe” lives less then four days away by foot from an administrative center with, a landing strip, a radio and nurses. They also use the Vailala River to travel to the coast to sell handmade goods.
I just watched one of the most amazing videos I’ve ever seen… and all you people can come up with is that white people are racist!
Shame on all of you.
Brian
This is like showing me a naked woman, getting me aroused, then taking her away. It’s likely their culture as-is will persist. Why “introduce” this tribe to anything? Are we going to provide them with aid and democracy next? Videos like these are done for our own benefit and not the benefit of the tribe.
Dennis
If I saw a guy with gay shorts and a womens golf hat I would not shake his hand either.
joe
Anyone ever seen cannibal holocaust?
Tashimoto
So these guys had never once seen an airplane, chopper, hot air balloon in the sky or any ship a sea?
In all this time, not one Australian fishing boat, commercial or pleasure craft had ever landed on their shores from northern Australia, a FEW MILES away. Puhhhlleeeese!! They would have to live in underground bunkers to have not made contact hundreds, even thousands of times by now.
Todo
Filmed at Universal City Studios, Hollywood, CA.
hwytracker
Possibly the most exciting adventure anyone could ever have. Meeting and sharing food with a native group of peaceful people. I wish I could see more of this exchange.
Questions I have cover many topics but the main question is exactly where (truthfully) and in what year did this meet take place?
Could this have taken place in Africa or some other place than the Amazon?
Why hasn’t this been announced in the various news media around the world? Maybe this was staged but with what we viewed we will never know.
